So here we are, already in mid-April. I've been wanting to start a blog so that when my memory goes I'll be able to read about my 30s! :)
We've had a pretty busy year so far. I decided to start preparing individual & small business tax returns and had a pretty good first year. I like the idea of making a little extra money without having the stress of relying on this income. I have my CPA license and am the controller for a commercial real estate development company in Lawrenceville and I absolutely love this job and the guys I work for! If I never have to go back to the corporate-cube farm I'll be a happy girl! Hopefully my little side business will grow over the next few years.
Matt & I spent most of the winter riding mountain bikes getting ready for the 2010 Snake Creek TTs. This event is organized by NWGA Sorba with 3 races . . . January, February & March. Matt has done this race for a few years and with my recent "training" I decided to sign up for the 17 miler. Since there wasn't a singlespeed class for the ladies, I jumped in with Matt & the other SSing men. The first race was super cold but I managed a 2nd place finish and I got 4th in the February race (a little warmer but still cold & sleeting on us in the parking lot). When March rolled around, the weather was great and I had an awesome ride and to my surprise I actually won the fastest lap for the SS class AND the women's tri-fecta. I don't think I stopped smiling for a few weeks and I've met so many new mountain bikers from this event!!!
After Snake, Matt & I teamed up for the Chainbuster's 6-hour at Heritage Park in Watkinsville. We were on the fence because of all the rain the week before but decided to go ahead and sign up since we are planning to do the whole series. The trail was super fun and in pretty good shape. We ended up in 2nd behind Shey & Kari Lindner . . . super nice family! I'm really excited about the Yargo 12-hour in a few weeks.
Up next is the Cohutta . . . 65 for me and 100 for Matt! I survived the pre-ride last weekend, if only they provided a 1 hour lunch break like we had on the ride this weekend! :)
We're headed up to Nashville this weekend to hang out with Mike & Jeanie. It seems like forever since we saw them last so I'm excited about the trip! I think we're heading to Fayetteville for the CrudeXC race on Saturday. I'm more of a long distance "racer" but I think I'll see how I do with this race. DSG is in about a month so I'd like to see what's up with the new "bassackwards" trail direction so we can figure out how we're going to sign up for DSG!
And finally, my triathlon! On June 27th I am participating in the Aflac Iron Girl Triathlon. I am REALLY excited about this event and oh so nervous. I am raising money for pediatric cancer research at CHOA so if you'd like to donate, please visit my page.
We've go A LOT going on in the next few weeks so I know 2010 isn't going to slow down until summer . . . seems like every year goes by so much faster than the previous year. Oh well, I wouldn't trade it for anything . . .
